This model represents the original Starhopper Test Article.
Construction: Early December 2018 in Boca Chica Beach in South Texas
The full Starhopper is 9 meters (30 feet) in diameter and was originally 39 meters (128 feet) tall in January 2019. The nosecone suffered damage and was blown away due to wind. SpaceX decided not to include the nose section for the Hopper tests.
Starhopper Test Unit accomplished a successful 150 meter hop on Aug 27, 2019.

Prototype launch vehicle from SpaceX, as part of the new Generation Launch Vehicle Starship. It was successfully launched on August 27, 2019 using a single Raptor engine (s/n 6) ascending to an altitude of 150 meters before performing a controlled landing. The flight lasted about 57 seconds.

On Sep 28 , 2019 SpaceX Elon Musk gave a presentation in Boca Chica, Texas, on the development of his new rocket, the Starship. The test rocket in Boca Chica is version Mk1, while the Mk2 version is in Florida. Mk1 is 9 meters in diameter and 50 metes tall and has three Raptor engines. On Nov 20, 2019, the Starship prototype was partially destroyed during a pressure tank testing, propelling its bulkhead upwards hundreds of feet away from the rocket. The Mk1 is considered retired after this incident and the work in Florida was stopped due to this. Now the MK1 will pave way to Starship Serial Number configurations.

SpaceX began stacking SN1 in Feb 2020 after successful pressurization tests on propellant tanks prototypes. It was destroyed during a cryogenic pressurization test on Feb 28, 2020 due to a design flaw in the lower thrust structure.

On Aug 4, 2020,  the SN-5 Starship performed a successful 150 meter hop flight test, landing at an adjacent landing site, thus becoming the first full scale prototype to perform a successful flight test. After the flight, Elon Musk stated that SpaceX would carry out several additional short flights in order to refine the launch process, before attempting a high altitude flight using a vehicle with body flaps.

On Sep 3, 2020,  the SN-6 Starship performed a successful 150 meter hop flight test, landing at an adjacent landing site. This test flight happened less than 30 days after SN5 test hop.

Landing legs are more metalized, Mass Simulator is missing top dividers, top dome has more details, and there is a number 21 lettering on the back next to the upper COPV. On Sep 23, 2020 SpaceX managed to burst a test tank for its Starship project. The SN 7.1 tank was built to test a new steel alloy 304L that SpaceX engineers believe will be stronger for the Starship and Super Heavy vehicles. The failure was done on purpose.

Vehicle: Starship SN 7 pathfinder test tank consisted of 6 rings, an upper dome, a lower dome with thrust puck and leg support pillars without legs. No Raptors were tested with the vehicle.

The Starship SN 8 successfully launched to an altitude of 12.5 km on Dec 9, 2020. The flight ended in a hard landing and explosion of the vehicle. A low pressure on the fuel header tank was the culprit. The ascent and flip maneuver with flap control was successful.

The Starship SN 9 was launched on Feb 2, 2021 to an altitude of 10 km. One of the engines had an issue with the oxygen pre-burner during the landing burn and failed, causing SN9 to hit the landing pad at a 40+ degree angle and exploded.
