Ship 28 was successfully launched for a Third Flight Test on March 14, 2024. It was launched on top of SuperHeavy booster 10. The flight involved an internal propellant transfer demonstration, a deorbit burn and a test of the Starlink dispenser on Ship 28. After a successful hit stage separation, Ship 28 successfully reached suborbital trajectory. A scheduled restart of Raptor engines did not take place. Ship 28 was clearly out of control during reentry and was lost. SpaceX concluded it broke up.
